I want to travel for vacation from the US to Canada, and then to?
Thats a quick trip. You wont see or learn much about any of these countries. Do use in-city touring buses on your first day. Grey line offers them all over the world. Dont even think of renting a car, you will not be comfortable on unknown roads with unknown driver habits of others. Too scary to even consider. You can use AirBnb for housing everywhere. You MUST buy a travel health insurance before you leave. YOU MUST, regardless of how young and healthy you are. (Foreign hospitals are NOT forgiving) Use your credit card as much as you can. The service and exchange rates will not kill you. Do NOT exchange ANY currency beforehand. Bring your regular bank access card and withdraw local money at you arrival airport. - If you have any left-over, you can exchange them on departure. And, travel light: Use a back-pack. Wear one set of clothing, with two more in your backpack. Wash, when needed, using the hotel hair champoo. Stay under 17 lbs and you NEVER have to experience loss or delay of your luggage. Its all carry-on. Your hand baggage can have another 5 lbs, its usually not weighed. Put your heaviest shoes on for the airplane (they are not weighed then), and your light shoes in the bag. Bring NO champoo, soap, detergent or other heavy items, its all available in your room. Be sure to bring ALL your medications, even your over-the-counter stuff, for the entire trip, you CANNOT buy any while away. Dont, DONT, bring a heavy and expensive camera. (If you do, your trip becomes one never ending string or - Where is my camera?) Bring a small $ 150 travel model. Make sure you have emptied your camera card before leaving home, you need lots of space for new pictures. If you are really smart, you bring THREE photocards and rotate them every day. Then you can loose the camera, but never more than 1/3 of you pictures. Do NOT buy any expensive and heavy voltage converter at home. You can get conversion plugs cheaply at the airport on arrival. (They use different wall plugs in Iceland and the UK.) About USD 2.00 - 5.00 each. Make a photocopy of ALL you carry, including your passport and bank cards, both sides, and put that in the bottom of your travel bag. Be aware, all of, ALL OF, Europe (not Canada) has pick-pockets. Its a scourge but a reality. Dont ever leave anything loose. Dont put your wallet on a counter or table when you pay. Keep your wallet in a locked or zippered pocket. Enjoy your trip. P.S. Weve been to 22 countries, as tourists, in the last few years. I have NEVER lost any luggage but we have been pick-pocketed twice in Europe. - Its almost impossible to avoid. Dont fret, dont go to the police, its an utter waste of your time. Nobody can use your cards, they all have a pin-code, (I hope). Good thing I had my photocopies.
