Are foreign born dual-citizenship Koreans required to serve in its?
I cant even remember how many US-born dual citizen young Korean men came into the American Citizen Services unit of Embassy Seoul to complain - with a combination of shock and terror - that they had arrived to visit their parents homeland as tourists and had immediately been drafted into the South Korean military. Yes, thats how it works. The bad part: you probably wont be home for Christmas. The good part: you wanted to improve your Korean language? Thatll do it. The painfully obvious part: you are a citizen of Korea and they can do what they want about that and you.
