What are the pros and cons of getting a Canadian passport vs.?
The pros are mainly for your child. If they want to ever go to Canada for higher studies, job etc they will not have to worry about getting visas etc. Or if they want to work in the US, Canadian citizens can work on TN visa which is much easier than H1B. They will not have to worry about visas to most countries if they want to travel as tourist. The con is that they will live in India on OCI card so will not be able to vote, hold constitutional office or buy agricultural land. To answer your comment, yes your kid can later acquire Indian citizenship under various laws of residence. eg A person of Indian origin continuously resident in India for 7 years can apply for Indian citizenship. But that would mean they would have renounce his Canadian citizenship which they can only do after they are 18.
