I lost my passport in April and I am planning to travel to Canada by?

Generally, this is not recommended. The Department of State policy is that aliens are best to apply for a visa at the consular post that serves the location of their permanent home abroad. Canadian US consular posts will entertain third country applicants, however appointments are very limited for such applicants and may not be available when one seeks to apply for a visa. Also, currently Canada is closed to non-essential travel. Visa interviews would be considered non-essential. While the border may reopen on 7 September 2021 to non-essential travel, that is not guaranteed. In any event, it is required for visitors to Canada to be fully vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine that has been approved by Health Canada, so be sure to get vaccinated. Remember, a visa is only required if one wishes to leave the US and return. If one isn't traveling internationally, a visa is not required when one gets their passport replaced while in the United States.
