I have only a passport.?
The problem with questions like these is I have no idea what passport you hold and why youre going to Canada. If youre a US passport holder going to Canada to have lunch with a friend in Vancouver, then off you go. No visa required. If youre an foreign national and you are in the USA with a green card, you dont need a Canadian visa, off you go. If you are that same foreign national with a H1B visa, you need to apply for a Canadian eTA and off you go. If you are a foreign national living in your home country you will probably need to apply for a visa to go to Canada. Also, WHY are you going? Going to Canada for tourism or business is quite different that going for employment. Most countries (probably yours as well) protect their countries jobs for their own countrymen and women. To get an employment visa for Canada you would have to have a Canadian sponsor willing ask their government to allow them to sponsor/employ you based on your skill set that they couldnt find in country. This skill set would have to be unique enough that the Canadian sponsor couldnt find an equivalent candidate in Canada so theyre willing so sponsor you and bring you across the globe to work for them. Check out this questionnaire that will help you determine if you need a visa for Canada or not and good luck! Find out if you need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) or a visitor visa
