Does Canada stamp US passports upon entry?

Im an American living in Seattle and cross into Canada often (by land and sea), never getting a stamp. If you enter via land/sea, and have: a US/Canada passport permanent residency in either (e.g. a US Green Card) a NEXUS card, or Global Entry from US/Canada an EDL (Enhanced Drivers License) Merchant Mariner ID, Intl Tribal ID, or a few other items You will not receive a passport stamp (or arent required to present a passport at all). If have a passport from a country other than the US/Canada and do not have permanent residency (e.g. a Green Card) you typically will receive a stamp. If you fly into Canada (from the US or elsewhere), you wont get a stamp if you use a Primary Inspection Kiosk (at YVR, YEG, YWG, YOW, YYZ, YTZ, YUL, YQB, YHZ and YYC supposedly soon, if not already). Arrivals at these airports no longer usually receive passport stamps, even if you're not American or Canadian. NEXUS cardholders never get stamps when using a NEXUS kiosk (at YVR, YEG, YYC, YWG, YYZ, YTZ, YOW, YUL, YHZ), or when crossing via land/sea, as a passport is not required. If you require a stamp (e.g. non-tourists, such as non-permanent residents for 6+ months, or for entry records in a passport), you may request an officer stamp your passport. tl;dr As an American, you may get stamped if you: go to an immigration officer have a long-term non-resident visa (e.g. students) fly into a smaller airport that doesnt have automated kiosks (e.g. YYJ, YXX, YLW, YQR, YXE, YXU, YHM, YYT, YQM, YQX) In most scenarios, though, you won't get a stamp. Canada (like the US), does not issue exit stamps, regardless of nationality.
