Do US citizen kids need passport to enter Canada?
If by air, yes, a passport is always required (to enter any country, actually). If by land or sea, children can use a certified or original birth certificate (or naturalization/citizenship certificate, or report of birth abroad) if they are under age 16 (so, 15 or younger). If both parents are not traveling with the child, a signed letter of consent that details who they are travelling with is also required. If both parents do not share custody, and such a letter cannot be obtained, you may need to provide a court order while applying for a passport. For those age 16+, you can cross the Canadian border with: US Passport Book US Passport Card Enhanced Driver License / Identification Card (in MI, MN, NY, VT, WA) Trusted Traveler Cards, such as NEXUS, SENTRI, or Global Entry
