Can I use my Canadian passport to fly within Canada if its expired?
You should be able to pick up free provincial ID, although I cant imagine that you wouldnt already have it to show when you visit a doctor. A provincial photo ID like that is enough to get you onto a plane. Here in BC, the provincial ID is called the BC Services Card. You cant use your expired passport as your primary ID for getting the BC card, but you could use a Canadian birth certificate. However, in Ontario, you can get an OHIP card with an expired passport as ID, if it expired fewer than five years ago. Check your provincial requirements. You must have had ID when you got your passport. If you truly have no other ID now, then youre in pretty much the same situation I was in. I sent in my old passport and whatever else I had with my application to get a Certificate of Canadian Citizenship. This is the ID to start with. It will get you anything else. It took time to get it, and there was a cost, but it was enough to get me every other type of ID.
